Main || Donating Guidelines

When you donate your old equipment to any other computer recycling company, your equipment will be destroyed, melted down, and the miniscule amount of precious metals will be sold. At computersforart.org we see that as a waste of technology, especially when it can be repaired and used creatively in exhibitions, screenings and events.

When your organization donates your equipment to us, not only do you receive the full service offered by recycling companies, but you will know that every piece of equipment will be appreciated and used to its full potential. Donors can also see how their equipment has been used by checking the 'Creating' page, where artworks will be displayed alongside details of who donated that particular equipment.

ComputersForArt.org aims to make the process of donating as easy, straightforward and secure as possible. We do this in several ways:

  • We collect the computers from your premises for free, and will give you a receipt of everything we have collected for your tax/inventory purposes.
  • Every computer's data is thoroughly erased immediately upon arrival into our storage facility.
  • Your software is also erased, and our own Open Source Software in installed instead, so your software licenses are unaffected.
  • Upon collection, we will also sign an assurance that you are not responsible for any electrical safety issues, we accept complete responsibility from the moment we collect them.

If you feel you have some equipment that could be of use to us, please do not hesitate contact us, details on the 'Contact' page. Please also contact us if you have any queries which have not been answered above.
